New Software for SIMRAD NSX Series!

Simrad are pleased to announce new software for the NSX family of multi-function displays.
 
NEON 2.1 software release for Simrad NSX series
We are pleased to announce new software for the NSX family of multi-function displays. This bulletin outlines the great new features, fixes, and improvements of this software release. The software is available for download from Simrad-Yachting.com website or by over-the-air update when the display is connected to the internet.
Echosounder: Network Sonar Module Support
  • Support for network sonar modules S5100, S3100, S3100H and SonarHub
  • Dual-channel transducers
  • Display multiple sources on your display
  • Depth and water temperature converted to NMEA 2000® digital data
  • Heave compensation (S3100H, 000-15918-002)
  • A new version of software for any attached sonar module is required. (Version >=25.1 (70.1.41.) Sonar modules can be upgraded from the NSS® 4 / NSX® either o.t.a download or from an SD card. Go to Settings>General > Software updates. (MFD may need a restart to show the new sonar version number).
Echosounder: Multiple sonar instances
Multiple sonar instances can be displayed from any networked source, including Sonar modules (S5100, S3100, or SonarHub) or MFDs (NSS4 or NSX running 2.1 or higher)
  • NSS evo 4 up to four instances
  • NSX up to two instances
Echosounder: Custom Color Palette
This allows users to create their own echosounder palettes.
Note: The color editor only edits the colors of sonar returns. The background color can't be changed. Select the palette that has the preferred background first before creating a new palette.

Chart: Faster, more concise chart menu
The workflow to access basic chart navigation functions has been improved. A single tap now brings up an improved chart mini-inspector. This cuts out several touch interactions to quickly execute key commands such as "Autoroute here", "Go to" or " Create Route"
A new "Stop navigation" button is available on the chart menu when actively navigating. A simplified method to cease navigating a route or Go to.
 
Chart Settings
All instances of chart now share the same settings and Instrument bar (except chart/chart split)
New instances of the chart app, such as when the chart is added to a split page with another app, will now all share the same settings, such as Orientation, Look ahead, Nav aids, such as safety alerts, Range rings, etc, and all data layers e.g., Color bands.
 
Instrument bar
The chosen Instrument bar associated with a chart will be the same for all chart instances.
 
Chart: Auto-track detection moved to under chart menu
The vessel's movement across the chart is shown as a historic track. By default, a new track recording automatically starts. Users have the option to turn off automatic trip detection. This is now under the chart MENU > Tracks. This used to be in the Tracks App > Menu.
 
Chart: Genesis® Social Map Layers for Reveal® X
Users of Reveal X charts with a current subscription will now have two more data layers to view. Vegetation and Bottom harness. (Note: Users may need to download the latest chart updates via the C-MAP X-Chart Manager to see the layers)
 
Chart: New Grid look
Chart grid coordinates have a new look to replace the former “thick green line” style.
Coordinates are now along the edge of the chart instead of on the chart.
 
Trolling Motor Support

NSX® can now control compatible trolling motors via a new control bar.
Radar: New range control methods
New zoom controls
  • Pinch to zoom: Infinite scaling of the radar PPI
  • Single finger "tap-tap-DRAG" to zoom in and out
Radar: Dangerous Target Alert
Dangerous target alert highlights the nearest dangerous target in relation to the bow of the boat.
Other Radar Improvements
  • Radar status page improvements
    • The radar status page now displays LED fault code meaning.
  • Improved mini-inspector
    • Mini inspector now has range and bearing to the cursor.
  • Watched targets
    • Tap on a target on the radar PPI and select "Watch" from the menu.
  • Alter target heading extension lines
    • It is now possible to alter the length of target Extension lines from within the Radar App. Previously, this was under the chart menu.
Suzuki® engine control bar
A new Suzuki control bar provides the ability to enable/disable Auto-Trim as well as control the engine RPM while using Troll.
The control bar also provides access to Suzuki® engine diagnostic tools.
Device Grouping
Device grouping (formally called SimNet™ Groups in legacy products).
In this release, displays can be grouped to link and control the brightness and optionally the day/night mode of devices in a group.
Fuel App setup enhancements
Ability to set the number of engine instances in settings > Boat details
Some vessels with more than one engine, using fuel rate to calculate fuel remaining, were unable to fill the virtual tank on the fuel app. The number of engines can now be set that to correctly set the number of fuel rate instances. After setting the number of engines, perform an auto source selection. Then restart the fuel app. Requires Navico Fuel Data manager (000-11522-001) (records and stores fuel used even when the NSX is turned off).

  • The channel number of a connected current Navico NMEA 2000® VHF radio can be displayed in the Instrument sidebar
  • NMEA 2000® data logger added to .nif files
  • Sonar settings slider default location of are now shown
  • Chart card "eject" Button added in Chart > Menu > Chart Source
  • User data export now prompts for what format to use instead of exporting all three
  • A Navico MFD can now be a source of GPS for the Mercury Marine Active trim feature
  • Added the ability to set NMEA 2000 device instance numbers
  • Track logging slowed down to record one track point every 2 seconds. This will match NOS MFDs
